Praise and a Prayer (January 2022)

Let me start out with some good news first. For the past few years, Liz and I have partnered with some friends who are full-time "missionaries" in another city and region here in Thailand. We met Aom and Boom through a mutual friend, and I was very impressed with the level of maturity that I saw in them. They were raising their own support in order to be full-time with CRU (formerly Campus Crusade) in Khon Kaen, Thailand. Over the years, we have been overjoyed to pray with them, and to see many Thai people come to Christ through their ministry.

A few days ago, Aom asked me to pray for her brother who was going in for surgery because of a tumor on his brain. She said that before surgery, she was going to talk to him about the gospel, and invite him to place his faith in Jesus. By God's grace, when she talked to him, he said that he did believe and that he wanted to know Christ. Aom told him that there are many people praying for him. In the last update, this is what Aom wrote:

Please continue to pray for my older brother, Ae. He has been awake since yesterday. This morning, the doctor scanned his brain and said there is a little fluid inside. So, they will have to do another small surgery in order to remove the fluid. My sister in law said he is still on a breathing machine. He tries to talk, but it's difficult because of the machine. Please pray that Ae will be strong through this time, including during the surgery, and that the surgery will go well. And by faith, pray that the lump will go away, and that he will be able to get off of the breathing machine soon. Thank you so much to everyone who is praying. I believe that because of your prayers, by brother will make it through this time.

As much as I hope and pray for Ae's health to improve, I am even more grateful to God for his confession of Jesus as Lord, and I ask you to join me in praying that he will "stay the course" and become a fully developed follower of Jesus who will be a blessing and witness to many others here in Thailand.

A Prayer for Us

I also want to ask you, briefly, to pray for us as we are trying to discern where God would have us in the coming season of life. Those who are close to us know that this has been a prayer of ours for awhile now. In fact, I had a Facebook Memory come up the other day that reminded me that we have been in a period of "waiting" for about 2 years now. This is not an unusual phenomenon when you see the stories of God's people in Scripture and how many years they often had to wait to follow God's specific call for their lives.

When we came to Chiang Rai, we knew this would probably be a temporary home, but as of right now, we are still not exactly sure where we should go or what we should be spending our time doing. The one thing we do know, is that we are exhausted from all the changes we have been through over the years, and are ready to go somewhere that we can commit to for the long-term. The irony is, we feel like we understand ourselves and our passions better than we ever have, yet we have no idea where we should be investing. I trust God will show us in time, but for now, it is enough to ask you to pray for us in this.

Thanks for Being Part of the Team!

In order to do what we do, we need partners. We would be nothing without those who partner with us to help bring the light of the gospel to dark areas of our world today. If you would like to partner with us, you can do so by clicking the button below and filling out the form on the next page.
